The Espace Killy has duly noted the eco-issues, so they have now put in place the Ecopass. This recyclable version requires no deposit and can only be bought in resort. A photograph is required for 8-21 day passes. Recycling bins for old cards can be found by the lift pass offices. For people who make regular visits to the Espace Killy they now have the rechargeable pass, which can be purchased online and is valid for 3 years. Once purchased, at an initial price of €3, this pass can be charged and recharged as necessary online. A photograph is compulsory. What Pass to buy?
Beginners have a choice of free lifts before they decide to buy a pass. Most ski schools will not take you up the mountain on the first day if you are a complete beginner they will see how you progress, so you might not have to buy one for the first few days. Always ask at time of booking though as this varies from with different ski schools and school holidays.
The free lifts can be found at the following places:
Val Claret – Val Claret drag lift
Val Claret – Bollin chair lift
Le Lac – Rosset chair lift
Lavachet – Lavachet drag lift
For people who have moved on from the free lifts and are still very much finding there feet, you can get the Tignes only pass.
For intermediate and upwards skiers you have the Espace Killy pass, This allows you to ski in Val d Isere as well and is only a little bit more expensive than a Tignes only pass. You can gain access to Val d Isere from the Aero Ski, Borsat Express lifts and you can ski back on blue and black runs.
Families – If you are travelling as a family the Espace Killy offers special discount rates, please see the Tignes website for further details and information on what you will have to supply to receive these discounts.
